GEDION COMMENTS AFTER K.C.B. MATCH

team walking

When nairobicitystars.com talked to Coach Gedion Ochieng last week about his take on the team, one point he insisted was that the kawangware based side will not be relegated from top flight football.

That assurance began last weekend when they played one time chart leaders K.C.B. in a match that could be described as do or die for City Stars from the sense of determination and resilience displayed by the boys, perhaps backed what their coach had said and still insisted after the game at Hope center.

While addressing journalist after the match, the calm coach said that his target was four matches and that was one down. He talked about mental training as one of the contribution toward the win. By this he meant bringing back to the team a winning mentality and self belief which to some extent has been lacking.

Nairobi City Stars travel to Kakamega to face a wounded Western Stima who received a beating from Sofapaka and will be hoping to win if not get a draw. Gedion believes tht he can siphon a point from the power men who are currently placed nine on the table with twelve points clear off the City Stars.

It’s a church team first of all, and I also wanted to win the title!

What do you hope to have achieved by the end of your career in football?

To play professional football and to provide a good life for my family. I’d also want to be able to help the poor.

Who is the best player you’ve ever played with or against?

Patrick Oboya.

Cristiano Ronaldo.

Who were the most important influences in your life when you were growing up?

My parents. They taught me to put God first.

If you can go anywhere on holiday, where would it be?

Haiti. It’s the poorest country in the world. I want to see the hardship and do my best to help.

What is your favourite film/tv show and CD?

Goal, the film. It showed me what professional football looks like and how you can achieve through work. I also like lots of 80’s music.

Go to my mother’s place or just stay at my house with my friends.
